Olmsted Village News
Project Update
To date, the first 3 of our future 12 buildings are in varying forms
of construction. The 3 buildings total 31,000 square feet of the future
projected 100,000 +(-) square feet.
Four shops are now open for business, Established since 1905 nationally
acclaimed men's clothiers Jos. A. Bank opened their doors in November of
2006. Currently, Jos. A. Bank offers a wide range of clothing options, from
classically tailored suits and tuxedos to business casual clothing fit for
all occasions. Jos. A. Bank offers all of the accessories needed to complement
a man's wardrobe from dress shirts, ties, belts to underwear, shoes and
much more;
there is also a on-site tailor for the shoppers convenience. A lovely dress
shop inspired by a very successful dress shop that has been in operation
in our area for nearly 40 years called H. Edwards and Company, and an exquisite
coffee shop called the Camellia Coffee House. Several other exciting
businesses are in varying forms of construction planning and
negotiations.
In the effort to honor the New England inspired architecture of the old
village of Pinehurst several of the store fronts will include noticeable
resemblances to some of those beautiful old village buildings.
These
include an emulation of the national award winning Theatre Building, a building
that was the first "mini-mall" of Pinehurst known as the Pinehurst Department
Store Building, the old "Gray Fox" entry, the 1923 Packard dealership (now
operating as Clark Cadillac), the building from which the entire village
of Pinehurst was heated known as the Steam Plant, and more to come. Additionally,
bricks taken from the old village are the foot path around a soothing fountain
and an offspring of a giant Holly tree that stood in front of the Carolina
Hotel for over three quarters of a century has been placed for all the shoppers
to enjoy.
The Olmsted Village Company is committed to insuring that the Camellia Parke
Shoppes remains a testimonial to the "good old days" while offering all
the modern assets that are now critical to all commercial presentations.
we hope our shop keepers and our shoppers will enjoy and appreciate this
special way of life that the village of Pinehurst enjoys and a century from
now those folks at that time will appreciate the legacy we have left the
same as we appreciate the legacy today that was left to us from a century ago.
